The Virgin Active Life Centre

The Virgin Active Life Centre is a luxury gym and leisure centre in the grounds of Derbyshire County Cricket Club, close to Derby city centre. Making inspired use of its setting, the club offers a 1600 m2 state of the art gym with views across the cricket ground from the treadmills, a pool housed in a glazed atrium, exercise studios, a luxury spa area, and an exotic Turkish steam cave. The members' experience is enhanced further with spacious changing rooms, a children's crèche and an airy café

Days Hotel, Derby

A location on a busy main road presented challenges for the design of this 100 room, 3 star hotel. In response, the hotel was strategically placed on the site to ensure many rooms offered views over the nearby Derbyshire County Cricket Club ground whilst roadside rooms were furnished with a high level of acoustic performance. The design for the hotel also incorporates luxury en suite bathrooms a spacious lobby and bar and an independant restaurant franchise.

Weald of Kent Hotel Golf Club

The Weald is home to a beautiful Golf Course designed by Mike Wood. The Clubhouse appears to be surrounded by a series of lakes – the largest of 16 water features that challenge ardent golfers. The Golf Hotel sits alongside the 18th Green and proposals are in hand to extend with an additional 40 Bedrooms.

The Abbey Pub, Darley Abbey

Providing a new economic use for a ‘ruined’ ancient monument was both satisfying and fulfilling. The building is an authentic 12th Century Abbotts House, the beer is good and the monks would have been excited about it’s restoration. A number of awards were received including an RICS/TIMES Conservation Prize.

The Royal Standard

Following the design of the highly successful Brewery at the Brunswick Inn for the same client, the success of the Derby Brewing Company’s Brewery Tap at the Royal Standard has exceeded all expectations. Another ‘real’ gem rescued and a Brighter City of Derby Award for the Pub of the Year 2009.
